MOUNTAIN PEPPER
Tasmannia lanceolata Mountain pepper, Tasmanian native pepper, Tasmanian Pepperberry.An evergreen shrub used in Aboriginal Cuisine’s and traditional medicine. Both leaves and berries are edible and are commonly used fresh or dried in curries, sauces and dressings for a peppery flavour. When berries turn black they are ripe in March – May. Prefers fertile, well drained soils in a full sun to part shade position. This ia a MALE! It does require a female for cross pollination to produce fruit.
